Spring is in the Air

The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, pollen is in my hair, and my allergies are going haywire...SPRING IS HERE!!!!  It's my second favorite season of the year, somewhat of the red-headed step child to me, but I love it nonetheless.  This Spring I'm inspired to begin blogging again.  Its almost been TWO YEARS since my last post and so much has transpired.  And although this writing process began as a way to share our parental experience, I'd like to expand it this time around.  Don't get me wrong, I'll still bore you with pics of my beautiful family, brag about Tyson's acheivements, and give my two pesos on parenting, but this time we'll have a more well-rounded dialogue.

13 Months and COunting

Man, its been quite a while since my last blog post. As you know, having a toddler can wear out the most in-shape person. Our little man turned one on March 29th. The weather held up well, so we were able to plan a small get together in the back yard with cake and ice cream.

It wasn't until the week after his birthday, did he get his hair cut. We had succomb to the old wives tale about not cutting hair until after the first birthday. Nick said Tyson did surprisingly well in the barber's chair, which I was happy to hear. It turned out shorter than we wanted, but nonetheless he looked completely different to me when Nick brought him home.

So these days, its the little things that bring excitement around the Jones Residence; whole milk, weekend afternoon naps, and over night trips at the grandparent's house. He's finally 20lbs, so this week he'll actually get to sit forward-facing in "big boy" carseat. That should be interesting.

Until next time fam!

311 Days of Parenthood

With January 29th being behind us, Nick and I have officially been parents for 10 months. Seems like time has flown by way too fast and in a short while Mommy's kisses and Daddy's hugs will be replaced by "No, no Tyson...Put that down...Stop pulling Kasper's tail". Nevertheless, we have enjoyed this ride thusfar. Interesting enough, I've had discussions with friends who have said they don't know what they did before they had kids. I, for one, distinctly remember what we did before Tyson came into this world. Sleeping in on Saturdays, midnight runs for ice cream, not tripping over toys...ahhh...the good life. Just kidding, you all know we love our Tysie-pooh!

Its been really fun to see him grow into new phases. Even the little things, like eating new foods, is a total adventure; alot of which I contribute to him having FOUR teeth. I'm proud to say that so far, he takes after his momma when it comes to appetite. He loves cantelope, yogurt and even white beans....an occasional banana peel finds its way into the diet as well.

He can wave bye-bye and clap estatically. And of course, his smile can light up a room. He hasn't had a pacifier in months and we're well on our way with the sippy cup. And praise the Lord we have 56 Days until he is on WHOLE MIIIIIIILK!!!! Yes, I was just singing that...lol!

We've made a conscious effort to soak it all in, because in a blink of an eye, he'll be going to prom. Thanks again for tuning in and sharing in our journey. We'll keep you posted.
